Xegaming Grows Up
#1
In response to why we were fairly much forced to do this https://mojang.com/2014/06/lets-talk-ser...low-up-qa/

After 4 years of operating this server and its Community, I have come to the decision to go the next step and

get us out of the MineCraft crunch that we have enjoyed for long enough Smile

What does this mean? Simply that XeGaming will, very soon, be hosting more than just MineCraft.

The first 2 games on the list will be:

7daystodie - Home Page --> http://7daystodie.com/

Terraria - Home Page -->   http://www.terraria.org/

We will continue to run MineCraft with the new XeHubs as well. We aren't letting anything go (except old server Smile )

we are just expanding a bit. It was always my intention to

have XeGaming be a Community Hub.  What's the advantage?

You get to play, explore, craft, discover, destroy, or create with servers hosted by

an adult run, adult operated and mostly adult staff (Non-adults are very mature here Smile )

You also get the benefit of having access to worlds that are monitored against foul behavior,

griefing (destruction of your builds / items), hacking, exploits and all the other nastiness that happens

within a non-monitored environment. You also get the warmth of being accepted into a Community that has grown into

its own and knows how to provide an exciting, fun and yet very safe gaming experience.

Financial Changes:

Due to recent changes in MineCraft monetization laws as well as the problems and

moralities of trying to offer "pay-to-win" benefits in a multitude of games, I have

decided to move our structure to an entirely new layout. This is very important and

I ask that all Community members share this knowledge with everyone.

1. Buycraft will be removed entirely from our system.

2. All Current Donators and Up (this includes ALL Monthly Paid Subscribers)

Will be given the first year of access to XeGaming Servers for free as a Thank You

to everyone who has supported us over these awesome, challenge filled years.

3. Greys and Foxes will become Greys again and can only access the new Demo Hub. This Hub will be a MineCraft based Hub that allows you to craft and build

with some protections and economy. This is to let folks continue to communicate with everyone else but will not have access to the Hubs Main Server or any

other XeGaming Hosted game without first having bought an Annual Subscription.

This is a big move and many won't be happy, I understand. As it stands it's not just

a matter of having little else to use for options but also in a move to grow XeGaming

into what it's designed to be. A safe, fun, well-managed, fast-running, Community of various games and software.

Prices will be as follows from July 3rd and on.

(All Current Donations Ranks / Paid Subscribers Automatically Get 1 Year Free)

$10 - Annual Fee - Access To All MineCraft XeHubs servers.

(I'll be sure to give everyone some great starting out gifts equally,

to get started as a thank you for you support)

$20 - Annual Fee - Access To All XeGaming Hosted Server Games (This would include any additional games we host at no extra charge)

[You will have the option to pay the additional $10 dollars to upgrade to the full $20 Annual Subscription but

this will only be valid during your first initial year]

This means if 6 months into the Subscription you want to upgrade, you get 6 months left

at Full Access. (This is to prevent abuse of any rollover system)

I tried to keep these fees low but still able to provide XeGaming with the

support we need to maintain our costs, upgrades, and maintenance fees.

If at any point you wish to Donate a larger amount to help support XeGaming

we will have some options for items such as Coffee Mugs, Tshirts, Stuff Toys etc..

that you would receive merely as a Super Thank You for your Donation.

These are some massive changes to XeGaming and I understand that there

are some that won't like the differences. Let me just say this personally.

In the roughly 4 years that I have been an Owner and Operator of this AMAZING Community,

I have learned that there really is nothing more fun, more rewarding, and

more special than having a place that you and your friends, family, loved ones,

and even rivals Smile can all gather, explore everything that we have to offer and actually have a

say in many of the aspects of what XeGaming grows to be.

Please ask any questions you like in regards to this post and I will answer in the best that I can. I will add notes as I finalize certain details as well.

(This may change!)

Want your own XeHub MineCraft Server? It's possible very soon and you can determine between 3 levels.

(NoobHub) - We do all the work and you get to be the Red Labeled Owner, decide your own staff, have the type of worlds and layout YOU want (within reason)

(ProHub) - We provide you with a Basic Framework. You decide the plugins, how they are configured, and you run the internal game (Much like hosted service)

(ExtremeHub) - (May not be possible just yet) - We provide you true Hosting. You get your own ftp access, your own space, and your own Hub server.

At no point will any rental of an XeHub allow you to have any staff/admin/owner control over XeHub or its Servers. These will be isolated with exception of chat

and even that would be an option of your choice. We reserve the right to refuse, cancel, or alter this agreement as we see fit due to security, bandwidth,

resource usage, and othewise. We will make every attempt to ensure that your Hub is maintained with the same quality of management as all of XeGaming Services.

Fees and costs would be determined by the layout of your choice. General range would be $10 to $40 Monthly for Each Hub (Approx 20 Person servers)

Please ask any questions you like in regards to this post and I will answer in the best that I can. I will add notes as I finalize certain details as well.

And here is another one of Pun's epic long posts...

I'm definitely not a fan of "Too much change", but I'm on board with whatever is going to happen.  Sadly, as you said, it will be harder for the community to keep up for the costs of maintenance, improvements, etc.  Although, it is what it is.

Given time I am positive we can come up with some ways to gain some support, still be compliant, and ensure everyone feels as equally treated as can be. This will be a large change for sure but I believe we can weather through these first few big baby steps (again kinda) and become the household Community Gaming name I've dreamed it can be Smile

Do staff get free access or do we still need to pay our annual fees?

Sorry forgot to mention that, Staff is always free access. If you are ever demoted, stepped down, or have to leave, you will still be given 1 year access from the time of the event.

Unless you are perma-banned of course. Staff will ONLY be staff on the Build Related MineCraft Hub servers. From there, we will determine who gets staff on the various other games we will and may host

in the future. But if you are staff on any one server, you get the free access on any game we host.

If you happen to gain staff shortly after Donating, you will have the option of refund, apply it for a friend/family, or hold it for if you ever decide to step down as staff and want another full year of access.

I hope everyone realizes that this means we plan on being around for many MANY years!

Happy to see you'll be offering a Demo world for Foxes who can't donate right away. As always I'm on board with whatever changes you need to make. And I still expect an XeCon next summer when it's still running well with lots of subscribers. Smile

I really like the idea of XeGaming not being restricted to just Minecraft, it's just unfortunate that those new laws even need to come into play, everything seemed stable before it - maybe it's for the best though, for a brighter and greater XE.  B)

Well it has been a good run everybody. The sole reason I was okay donating was because of the one time thing. I may come around every once in awhile but, I can't support a fully subscribing server. Especially paying for just access to the server. I'll miss you guys and it"ll take a long time to find another community worth being in the knit of. Thanks for the good times and experiences. Good luck rebuilding XE.

I've never been a fan of subscription based servers but knowing how you run the server at the minute and everything you have done for this community I know you will do what is best.

I know I'm rarely on anymore due to personal life but I will always try to be a part of this community as I have been with it from the start and have always believed in the decisions you have made.

Expanding to other games is also a very good idea and I really like the sound of renting the servers. I've not fully checked out 7 days to die but it looks good from what I've seen and terraria will also be good.

Again, I may not be around much but I'm still always lurking here in the forums to see everything is going smoothly. Glad to see you're still the man with the plan when Mojang turns the world belly up. Big Grin

Changes are drastic but it will take more than a changed EULA to get rid of us! Smile

I know everyone can't afford to be a Subscriber (as in, the current incarnation), but the total yearly amount for that is actually more than twice as much what we'll be paying for full access (not just Minecraft) under the new system. I don't mind subscription-based gaming - considering I've spent a couple years playing over $180/year to play MMOs, $20 per year seems like pocket change.

And regardless of the fee, this is still the one community I would never leave due to costs. XE provides a good experience and good friends.

THIS PART IS TENTATIVE.
I may also be willing to cover subscriptions for others if I deem that they need it and I have the funds available. Please do not ask me about it - if I decide to follow through, I'll make a thread about it where people can post their requests.

If XeCon happens, where would it be? Also I'd def make the purchase of a T-Shirt or even some sort of button/mug.

Hopefully the server will be around for a long time Smile

You're not paying to play on this server. You're buying the community along with Punjedi, whom we all know will keep this block floating. This is the one server I've ever considered donating ( I didn't, I'm such a baddie). I suppose if we could still play Battlefield 1942 sometime.... 7 Days To Die looks awesome. Terraria kicks me around. A game similar to Terraria is Starbound. Maybe look into it, Pun? I just found out about this bombshell about Minecraft today. You guys don't know me, but I'm sure a ton of you have seen me in game, but didn't know who it was. The Admins might remember me, I was the person riding around on the Coaster frequently. Gosh, has it been close to a year? Don't know if I'd like to buy the community. Don't get me wrong, if it was a real life neighborhood, gladly. But I don't know how much time I'll be playing games. Now, if there was a different option for seasonal, I'd definitely jump at that opportunity. Heck of a time to drop this on people. July 4th for us Americans. Maybe when I get back from my hangovers, there'll be more about this. Punjedi is the same person, hopefully. So are the Admins as is everyone else. 10 dollars annually is not bad. That's a year, right? Better than some games I could name. Compared to what some of the other servers are going to be doing, this will be good. It all boils down to how much I'll be on. Maybe when the next major MC patch comes out. BTW, I have new names due to lack of memory skills.
