Yes, the big question on everyone's mind is what is XeGaming going to do for the 'Combat Update'?
Â
Long and short of it, we ARE doing a full reset. After much thinking and some discussion with various members and staff, I feel it is time again.
Â
I understand that we have had some awesome builds on this go-around and this map has been with us for over a year now.
Â
The biggest issues I am having are this...
Â
1. The map has gone through a few major revisions so it's got some funky borders, occasional weird world-generation, and world-edit has it's issues with it
when trying to do rollbacks or regens.
Â
2. Stagnation has set in again. This means that the economy (although much better balanced this time) is stagnant, not moving. There is no desire or need at this
point in the game to use or push towards making or using shops. Â It happens, that's why resets are nice.
Â
3. The amount of data we have backed up and archived is more than we can really handle. We have 2 SSD 128GB drives and 1 TB spindle HDD that is getting pushed to its limits due
to all the archives and old saves etc... A full reset would include purging much of this data, thereby freeing up more resources for MineCraft and other games to be hosted.
Â
4. Lastly, There are some 1.9 changes coming that would benefit from a full reset like FINALLY more dungeons, better end zone with respawnable dragons apparently, as well as general
overall continuity on the world generation itself.
Â
Â
I know some won't be happy at all and that's the unfortunate nature of a reset. However, the benefits, I feel, far outweigh the downsides.
Â
This of course will mean waiting until plugins that we use are available so we will stay on 1.8 until about 3 weeks from now.
Â
I will post again a 7 day countdown to the time I feel will be appropriate for a reset and rebuild.
Â
Please understand that as I am the only owner now, I need to make my involvement efficient and easy to maintain for many reasons.
Â
Â
Thank you everyone and PLEASE comment on your feelings and suggestions for the next round of XeGaming MC
